When most people think of solar power for their homes, large shiny solar panels perched on the roof of the house is the image that comes to mind.  While these are typical, there is another option. Solar powered shingles which look like regular roofing shingles have the ability to harness the power of the sun and convert it to electricity.  They are durable and capable of producing electricity for the entire house over the long term, estimated between 25 to 30 years, and can increase the value of your home by up to 10 percent.

Imagine living without electricity. Then, imagine being totally self sufficient with your own power supply. More than just solar powered lights for your yard; solar energy is a renewable energy source for secure living. View the following video that I found on You Tube to see how easy the solar shingles are to install.

Solar power or also known as Solar Energy is the light and radiant heat from the Sun that influences Earth’s climate and weather and sustains life. Since ancient times, solar energy has been harnessed by humans using a range of technologies.

Solar path lights as its name indicates is a simple lighting solution that does not depend upon electricity or a generator. Instead, these lights get charged with solar energy during the daytime and start automatically when it is dark in the evening. Best of all, there is no monthly electricity bill and they are very simple to install and require absolutely no maintenance.

Solar Garden Lights

Though most people would think of a garden as an outdoor oasis to be experienced in the daylight hours, truly the sounds and sights of a nocturnal garden can be just as breathtaking.  Now, most people would be thinking, what the heck is a nocturnal garden?  Unlike diurnal gardens, nocturnal gardens focus more on fauna than flora, and are designed to attract nocturnal creatures.  This might include bats, frogs, toads, moths, fireflies, crickets, catfish, and opossums.

To attract these creatures to your garden, you will need a water source, a healthy amount of vegetation, and food suited to each animal.  For example, you can successfully attract bats by placing bathouses in your yard, and bat feeders in your garden.  Creatures like catfish, frogs, and toads will likely have to be brought in from outside, but can create a heavenly symphony of sound.  Installing some solar garden lights will allow you to catch a glimpse of the nocturnal creatures now and then as well.

With the entire world going green, the holidays are no time to skip out on doing our part to help the environment.  This year, solar powered Christmas lights have become quite a hot commodity on the market.  These innovative outdoor lights store solar energy during the day, and use it to power a beautiful holiday display during the evening hours.  Great for decorating landscapes or houses; use them just like electric Christmas lights!  You might also consider purchasing an artificial tree.  Though low quality trees will fall apart, a high quality silk tree will keep its shape year after year, saving you time and money in the long run.

Also be sure to compost all those holiday leftovers, recycle all the bottles and cans from holiday gatherings, and instead of returning unwanted gifts; donate them!
